  • The INSCI Solutions Suite

INSCI's integrated suite of software products facilitates a broad range of business processes including electronic document archiving and retrieval, document management, workflow management, document imaging, data mining and report analysis, Internet-enabled production printing, and processing of electronic commerce (e-commerce) transactions using Internet-enabled capabilities. INSCI products are consistently rated in the top of their class by research and analyst groups such as Doculabs, Gartner Group, IMerge Consulting and others.

Our core product technology, COINSERV™, is based on client-server architecture that is highly scalable with versions for Windows® NT and such UNIX platforms as IBM AIX, Sun® Solaris™, HP HP/UX, SCO UnixWare and Unisys SVR4. COINSERV for Windows NT was selected as Product of the Year over competing products in the COLD (Computer Output to Laser Disk)/Enterprise Report Management (ERM) category by Imaging and Document Solutions magazine in its January '99 issue. Our other mainstream product, COINSflow, is a robust workflow system designed to work in conjunction with COINSERV or independently to facilitate more effective business processes through automatic routing, tracking, notification and action assignment.

COINSERV enables customers to store, manage, access and distribute high volumes of transaction documents and reports. This software utilizes optical disk, CD, automated tape libraries to index, archive, retrieve and distribute computer-generated documents and scanned images including transaction documents and data. Documents are stored in a Digital Document Repository (DDR) and can be rapidly retrieved for on-demand viewing, printing, Internet distribution, CD distribution and re-purposed for interactive Internet presentment and other e-commerce functions.

The COINSERV product suite enables organizations to use existing print applications as the gateway for implementing digital document repositories, preserving their investment in legacy applications as well as establishing the infrastructure for e-commerce applicability. COINSERV systems support a wide variety of diverse data formats including IBM mainframe formats; UNISYS mainframe formats; UNIX and PC print output formats; intelligent data streams such as IBM Advanced Function Presentation (AFP), Xerox Metacode and DJDE, PCL, and Adobe PDF; and scanned documents in TIFF format.

INSCI products are currently installed at over 500 customer sites worldwide. These systems are used in a wide range of vertical industry segments and deployed in departmental and enterprise-wide configurations.

    Total Solutions

With the COINSERV product suite, organizations can effectively enter the e-commerce marketplace without sacrificing substantial investments in legacy applications. Existing print applications act as gateways to implementing digital document repositories.

COINSERV's integrated software components provide the ability to:

    • Perform core document repository management functions
    • Ingest, interpret and index various format document data streams
    • Access, retrieve, view and print stored documents
    • Access stored documents for Internet use
    • Analyze and extract information from stored documents
    • Store source paper or other image documents through image capture
    • Route documents, automate business processes and accomplish document-activated activities
    • Create, package and distribute self-contained CD-R sets of archive documents for non-networked users
    • Integrate applications for tight links with other businesses systems and processes

Digital Document Repositories    Digital document repositories require a number of characteristics if they are to be robust enterprise-class solutions, offer high performance and be long-lived. INSCI has designed its digital document repository products with architectures, features and functions to meet this challenge.

Diverse Data Formats    INSCI supports a wide variety of data formats, including IBM mainframes, UNISYS mainframes, UNIX and PC print output; intelligent data streams including IBM Advanced Function Presentation (AFP), Xerox Metacode and DJDE, PCL, and Adobe PDF; and scanned documents in TIFF format.

Indexing    With sophisticated and powerful page-matching and indexing capabilities, COINSERV is well equipped to identify, divide, interpret, search for, locate and distribute documents.

Forever View    Because archive data is a vital, valuable corporate asset, INSCI products provide long-term data storage and access without compromise. INSCI brings users a "forever view" of documents, without purging archived documents over time. Our data and index management products handle large scale storage requirements without experiencing performance degradation or "topping out" as the index volume continues to increase. Cost-effective hierarchical storage management stages data archives so that the most responsive media is paired with each application's data access requirements.

Client/Server Architecture    INSCI users can take advantage of past investments in legacy systems hardware, software and networks, while still supporting LAN/WAN and Internet/Intranet distributed processing. INSCI's well-designed client-server architecture is built on open systems distributed processing principles. This allows for seamless data access from host based legacy systems as well as the state-of-the-art LAN/WAN and Internet/Intranet environments.
