New UNISYS Business Initiative Will Focus on Worldwide Enterprise Windows NT Solution Partners

BLUE BELL, PA, DECEMBER 8, 1997 -- Unisys Computer Systems Group (CSG) today announced a new organization to support worldwide Solution Partners involved in marketing business solutions strategic to the overall Unisys Enterprise NT initiative. The new Worldwide Business Solutions organization will focus on solution partners and integrators in the financial services, commercial, cross-industry and public sector markets who provide solutions for mission-critical, enterprise-wide Windows NT platforms. The key objective of this organization is to help increase the Unisys CSG share of revenue from third parties.

Since its formation earlier this year, the Worldwide Business Solutions organization has signed agreements with such firms as Ernst & Young Technologies, a leading provider of information services. These firms will provide development, systems integration, and test services for such applications as SAP, BAAN and Oracle Financials, and will resell the applications on Unisys Aquanta servers. The group has also signed agreements with ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) and systems integrators such as INSCI Corp, Trident Data Systems, QAD and FiTECH, who will move their applications to an enterprise-class Windows NT environment and provide associated integration services.

“The charter of the Business Solutions Organization is to establish relationships and business alliances with solution partners, including independent software vendors (ISVs), specific solution value-added resellers (VARs), service providers and integrators,” said Leo Daiuto, group vice president and general manager, Enterprise NT Systems and Product Development and Technology. “The new organization will be responsible for identifying, recruiting and managing worldwide partner relationships in support of targeted markets of other CSG business initiatives.”

According to Mr. Daiuto, “As a key part of our overall Windows NT strategy, the objective for the Business Solutions organization is to establish business alliances with partners who provide value-added content to total business solutions to increase the sale of Unisys products.”

“Unisys has many important long-term relationships with its channel partners,” said Scott Clark, vice president and general manager, Worldwide Business Solutions, Unisys. “Our goal is to strengthen those relationships, expand them globally where it makes sense, and to create targeted marketing programs around new partners that support Unisys strategic objectives. We will also focus on creating ‘trivergent’ relationships where Unisys and multiple partners come together to provide the right blend of solutions and channel presence in geographies to deliver a total Enterprise solution to targeted markets.”

“This move validates the company's effort to provide the most competitive and comprehensive enterprise-level Windows NT solutions in the industry,” said Ted Prince, chairman and president of INSCI Corp, Westboro, MA. “Unisys has turned the corner on the complete integration of their solution partners with their business strategies. Working with their partners, Unisys will continue to make significant inroads in its mission to move Windows NT Intel based systems to the enterprise.”

“With this new organization, it is clear that, like Trident, Unisys shares the commitment to total enterprise solutions,” said Craig Robinson, president of the Commercial Division of Trident Data Systems, Los Angeles, CA, a leading provider of secure technology solutions. “Systems integrators and VARs marketing Windows NT solutions want to partner with a technology company that can provide a consistently high level of support. Unisys has the right combination of enterprise expertise coupled with NT commitment and know-how to work with us and help our clients make the move to Windows NT.”
