OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad to provide
document access to branch offices countrywide via Internet
MAJOR ASIAN BANK CHOOSES INSCI/FUJI XEROX TO IMPLEMENT COINSERVÔ HIGH-VOLUME DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH
INTERNET ACCESS
Westborough, MA (January 9, 1999) . . . . INSCI Corp (Nasdaq:INSI) today announced the sale of an enterprise-wide digital document management repository system with Intranet interfacing to OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, based in Kuala Lumpur. The OCBC system was sold through Fuji Xerox Malaysia, which has a reseller agreement with INSCI. The system links OCBC Banks headquarters with its branches throughout Malaysia and is being used to manage and provide rapid viewing and production access to customer account and credit card statements, operational and financial reports, as well as customer advices and notices.
According to the announcement by INSCI Chairman and CEO Dr. E. Ted Prince, initial installation of the system began in late July of this year, with a pilot program that integrated headquarters operations with a selected branch in Kuala Lumpur. Final implementation of the system is designed to integrate head office operations with over 25 branch banks and offices throughout Malaysia. The system includes INSCIs COINSERVÔ for Windows NT high-volume digital document archival and retrieval repository with an integrated WebCOINS capability that allows remote access to the enterprise document repository via the banks Intranet
Software Integration Senior Manager, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd Yeoh Swee Im said, "We are extremely pleased to have worked with OCBC and INSCI in this project. The installation at OCBC Bank has been very smooth with good support from OCBC Bank's management, project team members and INSCI."
"We believe this system to be one of the most advanced of its kind," Prince said. "It allows OCBC Bank's employees to remotely access, via the Web, all of its customers statements, advices and reports. Traditionally, these documents were printed and distributed by conventional means but with the implementation of this system, OCBC Bank anticipates reduced printing costs at each branch. The new system will result in significant savings for the bank as well as allow it to compete in new and innovative ways.
"Our partnership with Fuji Xerox in Asia continues to lead us to such advanced and innovative systems as the one created for OCBC," Prince said. "The implementation of this state-of-the-art system demonstrates that Asian countries, despite recent economic events, are still making significant technological progress. We are pleased to be a partner in this technological and economic advance and look forward to our products being part of a wider solution to many issues in Asia."
In addition to selling its product indirectly through Fuji Xerox Malaysia, the Company also sells its products directly throughout Asia. INSCI is currently working with Fuji Xerox on numerous other sales and marketing activities targeted at selling solutions featuring production level printing, digital archiving and Internet commerce applications.
INSCI recently signed an agreement with Xerox US to jointly market the Companys products in the US and already has marketing agreements in place with Xerox subsidiaries in South America. INSCI also is one of seven global sponsors of the Xerox-led Docuworld technology promotion initiative.
COINSERV and its suite of software products store production volumes of digital documents such as reports, statements, invoices, bills, and other types of commercial documents used in electronic and Internet commerce. Once stored, these digital documents can be used in a variety of ways to enable Internet commerce. This includes web-based viewing of bills and statements by customers, as well as use by customer service, finance departments and other corporate areas. INSCIs software allows these documents to be combined with scanned images and other document types, such as e-mail, so that all related documents can be seen at once in a single view, and then printed or reprinted as necessary.
